Stewart & Claire - Lip Balm

How about a little chocolate for your lips, not your hips? We blend cocoa powder from Askinosie, one of the best U.S. bean-to-bar chocolate makers, and with organic, fair-trade cocoa powder to craft a lip balm that smells (and, well, tastes) like the best bar of chocolate, minus the sugar. We created this lip balm in partnership with our friends at Short Stack Editions, a series of design-minded, small-format cookbooks. Thanks to the addition of organic jojoba and safflower oil, this balm will moisturize and protect your lips even in the harshest climates.

• Askinosie sources beans for its cocoa powder directly from a grower in Davao, Philippines, where the company collaborates with a local school to create a Sustainable Lunch Program. Since the inception of the program in 2011, more than 240,000 school lunches have been provided, helping decrease malnourishment and increase attendance and test scores. 
• Our organic jojoba comes from U.S. farms and soaks quickly into skin.

LA NUIT with jasmine: We combined night-blooming jasmine with bergamot and peru balsam (the spicy smelling resin from a South American tree) to create one seriously sensual lip balm. 

MINT: Now Certified Organic! Peppermint essential oil makes this balm nicely cooling. Hemp oil gives it a grassy green hue. 

NEGRONI: HERBAL. CITRUSY. BRACING.

We thought this balm would be a one-and-done limited edition, but it was so popular (seriously, we get weekly emails asking about its return), we decided to bring it back. 

When Campari first asked us to create a Negroni lip balm, we thought it was impossible. You see, this cocktail contains only three ingredients, but each one (gin, Campari and sweet vermouth) includes who-knows-how-many secret botanicals. After a lot of tinkering, we came up with a spiced orange and juniper-scented lip balm that does the Negroni justice. 

OLD-FASHIONED: People thought we were crazy to create a bourbon-inspired lip balm but we're thrilled to say that our certified organic Old Fashioned lip balm is now our signature product and best seller. 

Scented with cedar, bitter orange and a touch of vanilla, cinnamon and black pepper, the balm is reminiscent of the bourbon, cedar chests and grandfather's pipe. We recommend applying this as you settle in by the fire, sip on your night cap or read a Hemingway novel. Or simultaneously do all three.

SPRING with tarragon: FRESH. CLEAN. HERBAL. 

Are you the kind of person who loves absinthe and mountain air and fresh-smelling things in general? Tarragon has a punchy herbal, almost anise-like scent that puts us in a spring state of mind. It's like a sweeter version of mint, without the intense menthol. 

• Tarragon is an energizing scent that's also known to help with digestion. (Idea: Apply some just before that five course meal.)
• Hemp seed oil is a super moisturizing but light-feeling oil that gives the balm a pale green color. 
• Apricot kernel oil is wonderfully emollient and great for sensitive skin. 
• Shea butter gives makes the balm extra nourishing and protective, helping increase its 'hang time' on your lips. 

TIKI with Mandarin orange: Now certified organic! We combine naturally fragrant virgin coconut oil with a little mandarin essential oil to create a balm that's reminiscent of a tiki drink. Think of it as a beach vacation in a tube. 

• Like orange essential oil, mandarin essential oil has been shown to boost feelings of happiness and well-being. 
• Coconut oil is exceptionally rich and moisturizing, with anti-inflammatory properties that make it great for chapped lips.
